Solid State Guitar Amplifier
The purpose of this project is to build a 50-watt electric guitar amplifier which utilizes bipolar junction transistors for amplification with a team of four to five people. An existing schematic for the Marshall 5010 amp will be used with an addition of an overdrive stage for distorting the signal by means of a non-inverting op-amp and soft-clipping diodes. Students will gain experience with PCB design and fabrication, design of an amplifier stage, soldering, and familiarity with different amplifier stages.
